EURoTRiP SEGMENT # 2
Congrats…you made it to Segment #2, but “hold on to your hats” because this stage of the project is quite involved and it is time actually to create the online presence (Website) for your city’s adventure. This website will be used by your potential customers (teachers, other students and maybe your parents) to see what you have to offer & if they want to take your adventure. (or give you a good grade) Lots of tecky logistics, but the following steps will help guide you to create an amazing travel website.
STEP ONE: “Create your Website”
One group member needs to open up his/her school google account and click on the purple “Sites” icon in the main menu. This is YOUR new website and you are free to start a blank site or choose a pre-made template to help you with the design/look of your new site. (It is ALL up to you and what you are comfortable with.) After you have selected a template please “Publish” website. During this “Publish” action you will be asked to name your site and choose who you would like to be able to view this site. Please include BOTH Last names of group members and the name of the city when naming your EuroTrip Website. Don’t forget…the student who created site need to “Invite” project partner to “Edit Google Site”.

STEP TWO: “Adding Website Pages”
Time to add Pages to your website…this is a rather simple process in that you are ONLY adding the actual pages to your site and NOT adding the travel information within these pages. This is just a “Set Up” stage and not a completion stage.

2) Flight/Hotel
3) Budget
4) Packing List
5) Itinerary
6) Virtual Tour
STEP THREE: “Create Home Page”
During this action you will be creating the Home page or “landing page” of your EuroTrip Website. Yes…people do “judge a book by its cover”, meaning that this page SETS THE TONE for your city, and your project/adventure. A home page should be colorful, easy to use and informative to the reader.
ALL Home Pages should include the following 7 details…
1 ) Tour Company Name & City Name
2) Business Contact Info (Address, Phone Number, etc...please use “fake” info)
Note: we want these to look like actual business sites!!
3) Group Member or Members Names (first and last names...you = owners of company)
4) Welcome Greeting/Intro Paragraph
Include a paragraph convincing possible customers (aka. Travelers) to visit your chosen city using persuasive language. Including 1) the Topic/Main Idea/Intro Sentence: Why should someone visit your city? 2) Specific detail Sentences as to explain your WHY...please give specific place names and/or important events happening! 3) Closing Statement...this is the "slam dunk" sentence to close the deal with your potential customers! Step Four: “Build Packing List Page”
REMEMBER…you already created a packing list during Segment One…this is just a step to place this info (Cut & Paste) on your EuroTrip website…this info should be in your Google Doc.
Probably one of THE BIGGEST stresses of traveling is in the planning of a perfect packing list for travel. During this step you will be taking away this stress by providing a DETAILED packing list for your travelers. Please think about the season, weather, and type of activities that your travelers will be facing throughout you adventure. The Packing List should be neatly displayed on your Packing List page of your EuroTrip website.
Packing List Basics...
1) Again, please place your packing list within your website under the “Packing List” Button...remember the trip is for 2 people.
2) You don’t have to figure purchasing packed items as a part of your budget.
3) You are NOT allowed to bring food with you on your trip!
4) BE SPECIFIC with your packing list! (think about gender, age, and activities that your traveler will be participating in)
5) Remember to pack your PASSPORT (will not be able to enter country without)
6) Towels, Shampoo, and basic bedding are provided by most hotels
STEP FIVE: “Build Flight/Hotel Page”
REMEMBER…you already did the research/work for your Hotel & Flight information…this is just a step to place this info on your EuroTrip website.
Please include the following on your Flight/Hotel Info Page:
1) Flight Numbers and departure times
2) ALL Layover information (cities you stop at along the way)
3) Airport CODES for all Cities traveling to or through ex/ MSP = Minneapolis/St. Paul
4) Price...what did it cost? (Total Bundled Cost should also appear on your Budget Page)
5) What Carrier/Airline? (include a picture of an example plane)
6) Pictures of ALL visited Airports & Hotels (display & Label these photos on Page)
7) ALL Hotel Information...Address, Hyperlink to Hotel Website, Per Night Cost & Hotel
Details important to travelers! (you will need 4 nights at the hotel within your city)
8) Flight Info TO your country should also be displayed on Day One within your Itinerary
9) Hotel Info & Weblink to Hotel should also be displayed on Day One in Itinerary
10) Flight Info FROM your country should also be displayed on Day Five in Itinerary
