EUROTRiP SEGMENT # 3
STEP ONE: “Trip Itinerary”
The Trip Itinerary is a MAJOR component of the World Tour website and should be the MAIN focus of energy throughout this segment. (FYI - this is the most time consuming & probably the toughest part of the project) You will be creating a 3dday/4 night “Hour by Hour” itinerary (schedule of your trip), so your customers know EXACTLY what they are going to be doing throughout their adventure. Please read through the list below BEFORE starting this task because you need to follow the directions in order to get FULL credit.
Trip Itinerary Webpage Creation Basics...
1) MUST give “Hour by Hour” details of your 3 City Travel Days
2) Your Trip Itinerary will start with your plane landing in your city & your first action will your hotel “Shuttle” (train, cab, bus, etc) Note: any “extra” time on this first day (day prior to first hotel night) should be “free time” for travelers…no need to provide ANY addition al plans for this day other than arriving at the hotel. (You could suggest a stroll around the city to get comfortable with the area)
3) Tours MUST spend 4 nights at a hotel within your destination city. (basically it does not matter if you have an “over-night” flight...book 4 nights at your hotel)
4) Itinerary must have at least THREE major Activities/Tourist Destinations for each day spent in your city...basically a Morning, Afternoon and Evening Activity planned. Note: you do need to visit your TOP 10 Attractions within your city, but it is up to you to plan it out!
5) Assume your groups want to see/do everything...we are not going to travel the world to stay back in the Hotel to nap & do cannon balls in pool...Lets see and do!!
Note: “Up and AT Em” at 8am and home by 10pm...a full day and make the most of your time!
6) Include where you eat EVERY meal...please give Restaurant Name, Location, and link to website of Restaurant if it is available!! (NO FAST FOOD & check to see if a free Breakfast is included with your Hotel...bfast is usually included in Hotel price throughout Europe)
8) Reminder - This trip is for 2 ADULTS (age 21+)...plan accordingly!
9) Briefly explain the basics of ANY and ALL stops throughout the entire itinerary
10) EuroTrip is a WALKING TOUR, so you must include specific details/times of movement to ALL of your destinations throughout the adventure. Note: PLEASE look at the locations of all your attractions and try to group destinations based on location throughout your tour! (Think 3 “loops” of adventure…one for each city adventure day)
11) Can you take a bus, train, bike…OF COURSE…this is YOUR tour & all that is expected is that you provide details and costs associated with alternative (other than walking) movement throughout the city.
12) Must stay within 75 miles from the center of your chosen city throughout your advertised trip...any movement beyond 75 miles will be VERY time consuming and expensive!
12) No Need to give “Hour by Hour” updates when you are sleeping or at an attraction for an extended period of time!!
13) Itinerary must have AT LEAST 3 working “Hyperlinks” within EACH DAY of your itinerary...restaurants, clubs, museums, attractions, etc! (Honestly you could have hyperlinks for everything that is done and even walking directions through google)
Note: ALL information above should be neatly organized and displayed within you website's ITINERARY Page on your Travel Website.
STEP Two: “Trip budget page/details”
Step #2 involves creating your Budget page details for your EuroTrip Website. Reminder…your TOTAL allowed trip budget for the EuroTrip is $6,000 USD…you can’t go OVER and should plan to spend “at least” $5,000 USD. (Failure to be within 5 to $6,000 should result in adjusting activities through the experience to be within this range) Trip Budget pages should be neatly organized and reflect the 5 Major Funded Catagories for the Trip. The 5 Catagories = Flight, Hotel, Airport Shuttle, Food & Attractions. (you are more than welcome to add catagories if needed) Note: Souvenirs and purchase of items for packing DO NOT need to be included within your Trip Budget.
Budget Planning Sheets are available from you teacher or downloadable HERE.
