Topographic Mapping Mini Unit
The surface of planet earth is quite a spectacle. Our landscape rises and falls, creating a literal maze for humans to live within. Topography has shaped human history, creates weather, affects climate & generally makes life on earth more interesting. This mini unit is a chance for 8th grade World Geographers to go beyond the basics of map reading & really dig into our earth’s landscape. Students will get a chance to move from the basic creation of a maps for simple viewing to actually using maps as tools to gain a deeper understanding of our planet.
Student Goal: I can use a topographic map as a tool to read earth’s landscape.
