WE NEED CHAPERONES & POWER BOATS!
Hey Parents…Yes, to make the annual 8th Grade Canoe Trip successful we are in need of a small army of willing chaperones to come along and join in on the fun!! Chaperones can be parents, grandparents, step-parents, HS Graduated Siblings, etc…legal age and responsible “old people” to help provide “more eyes” on the river to keep our kids safe. Not a water person or just Don’t like to Canoe…GREAT because we also need “Land Crew” to help cook and prepare food for the Post Canoe Party at William O’Brien State Park.
How do I sign up? To “reserve” your spot, simply fill out the bottom portion of your student’s permission form to be returned to the Connect Teacher. How do I know if I am chosen? Welp, if you want IN…you’re IN! (meaning we take everyone and plan to attend) We do ask that ALL attending chaperones meet at 7:15am, on day of trip, in Mr. Gilbert’s room for a quick “Pre-Trip Briefing” and to get your canoe or land assignment.
POWER BOAT?
We are also in need of a small fleet of motorized vessels to patrol our Canoe Flotilla as we make the venture south on the St. Croix river. Power Boat Crew chaperones will need to provide both a boat and a tow vehicle to make this possible. Mr. Clausen (Principal) and Mr. Honkomp (Science Teacher) lead the Power Boat Crew & will help with all related logistics regarding the plan during the event. Note: all willing Chaperones will be given a small stipend of $40 to offset the cost of gas
Do I have the right equipment for this trip? (what we are looking for)
The perfect Canoe Trip Powerboat = 12 to 16ft. Aluminum boat w/ 5 - 25hp motor
Not The perfect Canoe Trip Powerboat = Jet Ski, Wake Boat, 21ft Sparkly Bass boat, Pontoon
INTERESTED? Please email Mr. Gilbert cgilbert@isd110.org (we need 2 additional boats)
